Flu H3N2 season 2018

1/19/2018

In Australia vaccines against this year’s Influenza H3N2 seemed to work only 10% of the time, which is a low efficacy rate. Below are few simple measures what to do if you are struck by flu and are part of the 90% who received vaccine that does not work or one who opted out.
First, it is important to know that flu could be a dangerous viral disease for people in certain risk groups. The only group of people who are at low risk are healthy strong people, so the first course of action to fight a flu successfully is to be proactive about your health, exercise, diet and emotional state. When you encounter flu you want to start the fight as a strong healthy person. This is what one learns in the Hunyuan Academy- methods to become healthy and strong in body and mind.
If you were struck already by the flu and are not at a high risk group you can try the following measures.
  1. Home made tea with scallion 2 stems, ginger, rice and jojoba dates about 10-15 grams each. Bag the rice into a bag and either boil all four ingredients in a pot for 20 minutes or use a flask adding boiling water and drink 2-3 cups per day. This tea is especially useful when there is a painful cough. When the cough subsides remove the scallions and add cardamom seeds 10 grams (add into the tea bag).
  2. Avoid any and all physical activity, at this time you should be in bed resting full time.
  3. If cough is severe boil water in a pot, add 40-50 grams dry mint leaves and inhale fragrant steam for 3-5 minutes, two to three times per day. This helps relieve much of the cough and congestion.

4. Recovery speed improves when the heart is happy. If you learned Hunyuan Heart now is the time to use your Wuji Gong skill to reach this effect.
5. While lying in bed join your hands together covering the lower abdomen and allow the abdomen to become warmer. Imagine that heat from the lower abdomen reaches all the way up to the heart. Practice multiple times daily 10 minutes each time.
6. Freshly made real chicken soup broth, off course!

Quick recovery!

If symptoms are or become severe seek medical attention.

The Little Toe – Being There

1/9/2018

Did you ever wonder why we bang our little toe in the table’s leg, why we burn our hand when we take the dish out of the oven? It is painful and yet it happens.
The mystery is simple to solve, my mind is wandering somewhere and because my eyes are far from the foot I fail to see the table’s leg down there that will hit my toe, and because my heart is removed from my hands I fail to sense the oven that will burn me. In a word, I am not there, I am not present.. right there!

The situation of ‘not being 100% there’ is more common than what meets the eye, even though we

are not banging our little toe every day or burning our hand every week. Time and time again our thoughts, words and actions are not 100% there, the mind wanders to a distant land and we are partially there. We are busy! The only time that we are not busy is during sleep.

In reality, “busy” and “many things on my mind” serve as smoke and mirrors preventing me from experiencing the life inside. The life, which is inside but at the same time connected to everyone and everything around me, is the seed of harmony. Mind distraction prevents harmony between me and that other thing, just like with the table’s leg and the oven; harmony is lost for a brief moment and my toe bangs the table’s leg, connection is broken and my hand burns by the oven. But physical misery is not where it ends.

For with every thought, every word and every action devoid of harmony and connection there is a little bang, a little burn. Not being present and still talking to people, thinking thoughts and taking actions is painful.  In Hunyuan Heart practice, avoiding this pain is called Learning the Simple Things. Practitioners learn, while awake, to feel the life inside and without distractions think, talk and act. Every thought, word and action yields harmony skipping the bangs and burns.
